How much do your services cost?

Normally $125/hr for work done at your business. This cost includes the preparation & packaging of most deliverables such as network documentation. We're not a legal firm, so we don't start the clock every time you call in. If you need help in meetings with vendors (such as software or hardware vendors) then I am happy to be present as an advocate for you, normally at no cost. We don't charge for mileage or travel time in most circumstances. There are discounts available for non-profits, churches, & customers who bill a certain number of hours (loyalty discount). There is an additional discount for work that is done via VPN or dial-up to your office (i.e. if I don't have to drive to your business to fix a problem or set something up for you, then I'm happy to discount my hourly rate since I spend much less time working on your problem.)

Where Are You Located?

My office is in Rockvale, TN, just outside of the city limits of Murfreesboro. Most of my customers are in Murfreesboro, but I have done work for customers in Franklin, Brentwood, Nashville, & Lebanon as well.

Will you come out to my house & work on my home computer?

No.

I'm not really a consumer hardware person, nor are my rates geared toward installing a video card in a Windows 98 machine. It's been my experience that home users do not expect to pay business rates for work done at their home & I want to leave my customers happy that they called me, not upset over a high bill. There are companies such as GeekSquad or Staples that are geared to home repair. My specialty lies in business systems such as file servers, Active Directory, database servers, etc. However, if you're really in a pinch give me a call & I'll see if I can help you out.

What kind of experience do you have?

My first job out of college was doing statistical programming at a lab in Vanderbilt University. I became interested in business networking & became the System Administrator for one of the largest Utility Districts in Tennessee. I was there for 8 years before leaving to form my own company. I earned a Novell CNA in 1998, & my MCSE in Windows NT 4.0 in 2000. My specific experience includes SQL Server 7.0 & 2000, SonicWall Routers & Appliances, BrightStor & ArcServe backup software, Veritas Backup, Disk to Disk backups, Disk to Disk to Tape backups, Microsoft Exchange 2000 & Exchange 2003, Active Directory, Iner-Tel Phone Systems, Cisco Routers, Cisco, HP, & 3COM Managed switches, Cisco wireless access points. I earned my Windows 2003 MCSE in 2006. I have extensive experience in 802.11 wireless technology, having been involved with that since it was introduced. I also have a great deal of experience with using 802.1x along with Microsoft's built-in RADIUS server.

I also have become interested in programming, mainly to build tools that I use for network administration. I've taken training in VB.NET and am always interested in projects where I can help bridge the gap between programmers & users.

What are your payment terms?

Unless otherwise negotiated I will bill your company at the conclusion of the project. The normal method of billing is via email, although I will use snail mail if you prefer. Payment is expected immediately upon receipt of the bill. If you have special billing needs, please tell me & I'll do my best to accommodate you.
